The AI labs of Meta are already making advancements in research and development as part of a long-term effort to enable the next era of computing. Meta introduces a new tool fueling creativity in the metaverse: BuilderBot that enables people to generate or import things into a virtual world just by using voice commands.

In the video, Zuckerberg explained the process of building parts of a virtual world by describing them. He begins with the prompt, “let’s go to a park.” The bot then creates a 3D landscape of a park with green grass and trees. Zuckerberg then says “actually, let’s go to the beach,” after which the bot replaces the current landscape with a new one of sand and water. He then says he wants to add clouds and notes that everything is AI-generated. Zuckerberg then changes up the landscape by saying he’d rather have altocumulus clouds, which is meant to demonstrate how specific the voice commands can be.

As described by Meta and shown in the demo, Builder Bot appears to be using voice input to add 3D objects that users can walk around, and Meta is aiming for more ambitious interactions. “You’ll be able to create nuanced worlds to explore and share experiences with others with just your voice,” Zuckerberg promised during the event keynote. Meta made several other AI announcements during the event, including plans for a universal language translator, a new version of a conversational AI system, and an initiative to build new translation models for languages without large written data sets.

Meta made a few other announcements at its event, including its plans for AI-powered chatbots, an AI system card tool, and a Universal Speech Translator. The company says the latter could provide instantaneous speech-to-speech translation across all languages, including those that are mostly spoken, which would be a leap over existing translation systems. Meta noted that 20% of the world’s population does not speak languages covered by current translation tools and that it plans to overcome this by deploying new machine learning techniques.

They are equipped with a range of sensors, such as cameras, lidar, radar, and GPS, enabling them to sense their environment and navigate independently. They use onboard processing tools to evaluate sensor data and make the following decisions. Package delivery, land surveying, infrastructure inspection, and emergency response are just a few of UAVs’ duties. They can adapt to changing circumstances and work in dangerous or challenging locations.

3. ROBOTIC ARTICULATION

5. THE HYBRID ROBOTS

Hybrid robots, including wheeled mobile robots, aerial drones, or robotic arms, combine the capabilities of many robot types into a single system. They are designed to be flexible and adaptive, able to complete various activities in various settings.

6. COBOTS, OR COLABORATIVE BOTS

Cobots are robots made mainly to operate alongside or alongside people in close contact. Unlike autonomous or remote-controlled robots, cobots can work together with employees to increase productivity. They are widely utilized to remove physically taxing, risky, or manual chores from everyday job routines. Cobots can react to and pick up on human movement, making them more collaborative and straightforward.

Until now, typical micro flying robots generally possessed motors, gears, and other complex transmission systems to achieve the up-and-down motion of the wings. But this has added weight and undesired dynamic effects. But the team of researchers from Bristol’s Faculty of Engineering has successfully demonstrated a direct-drive artificial muscle system, called LAZA that achieves wings motion using no rotating parts or gears. The system greatly simplifies the flapping mechanism, enabling future miniaturization of flapping robots using rotating parts or gears.

The team demonstrated how the LAZA system can deliver consistent flapping over more than one million cycles, important for making flapping robots that can undertake long-haul flights. The team expects the LAZA system to be adopted as a fundamental building block for a range of autonomous insect-like flying robots. These drones can be used for potential search and rescue robots to find survivors in disaster debris that bigger drones cannot reach.

Micro-drones like such have other potential uses, like artificially pollinating crops or carrying small cameras to inspect turbine engines. These machines can also carry out potentially big jobs that would be dangerous for human workers to carry out.

A group of scientists, as well as researchers from Vermont University, has created the first-ever bio robot or living robot known as Xenobot– the combination of life and machine at one place. The name of this living robot is taken from a frog known as Xenopus Laevis, an aquatic frog native to sub-Saharan Africa.

Bio robots or Xenobots are the culmination of two elements – frog cells and artificially intelligent robots. The reproducing robots have the combination of these two frog cells to provide functionality in terms of movement.

Artificial intelligence in a combination of supercomputers is applied to make bio robots. It helped to make millions of configurations to select the right one to enable movement for these reproducing robots. It has been observed that the current Xenobot generation lives for seven to ten days before dying off. The group of scientists is working on the future generations of bio-robots to be more productive and alive for a longer period of time.

Technology is becoming more and more integrated into our homes and everyday life, but as these advancements become more complex, with researchers even attempting to imitate the brain’s functions, could a future super-robot pose a threat to humans? In theory, the intelligent robot is the ultimate labor-saving gadget, and anything that decreases our workload appeals to us. Nevertheless, there is always the concern that machines should not acquire too much intelligence for fear of complete takeover.

While we’re talking about AI and robotics, there’s nothing like being served by someone who sincerely wants to help. There have been attempts to build space between brands and customers for years, which is one of the reasons we’re so excited about robotics, automation, and self-service technologies, as dealing with customers at times can be costly, resource depleting, and time-demanding. But, first, let’s talk about robots and automation. Would you want a robot to make a critical medical decision for you? Would you like to witness a cast of robots perform for you in a theatre? Let’s speak about what robots can’t do and how to discard this dismal vision of the future in which people are no longer useful.

Machines will not be able to destroy man for long as we remember that machines are here to help us. Would you trust something that doesn’t have the same ability to interpret events, actions, or tones as a human? Machines are at our disposal. That is how it should always be. It won’t bode well when we let technology run amok without much supervision or intervention from humans.

Many people bang their phones against the ground because an IVR doesn’t grasp what they want or it doesn’t fulfill their request. Because you’re dealing with human emotions, customer service can be a difficult business. And that’s the hazy area here. Robots are unable to consider feelings in the same way that humans can.

There’s nothing like talking to someone who has been through something similar to what you have gone through and sharing experiences. This relationship is necessary and very much desired by humans as this is how we were designed to share and connect with each other, through sympathy and empathy. That’s what makes humans distinct from Robots. It doesn’t help you in feeling better if a robot says, “I’m sorry for your difficulties, I can imagine you’re really upset,” since the robot isn’t being genuine. It’s a machine. There is no such thing as a soul or feelings in it.

It’s good to be greeted with a smile and some assistance after a long day of travel. Robots will never be able to care for you in the same way that your loved ones can, and they will never be able to replace them.

Consistently positive behaviour from both parties establishes trust. A robot does not have a moral compass; instead, it is equipped with only a machinery compass. Relationships have many intricacies that intelligent robots will never be able to mimic in their interactions with humans.

A robot will never be able to be creative or think critically. The patient experience can be shaped by a good doctor who knows how to speak in a direct but compassionate manner. No one prefers robots performing all the procedures and offering diagnoses to patients. The empathetic element can be provided only by a human.

Even for the “intelligent” machines or robots to fulfill their basic tasks, a human is required to feed the data into the system, so that the machine can run analytics on it. Without a human to fill the nuances of a machine, the machine will eventually be rendered useless.

With an apocalyptic vision of the planet, our world seemed to be becoming increasingly bizarre these days. Caring for one another, and focusing less on money would benefit us all. Let us take a step back and assess the usage of artificial intelligence and robots. Robots will never be able to entirely replace us until we lose our humanity.

Can Sofia, the Humanoid Robot, Really Destroy Humans as She Said?

Sophia was developed by Hanson Robotics, led by AI developer David Hanson. It spoke at this year’s Future Investment Initiative, held in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh.

An empty-eyed humanoid named Sophia has become the first robot to be granted citizenship in the world.

The viral robot from Hanson Robotics, Sophia, said that humans create technology’s problems.

The advanced AI robot got famous for becoming the first world citizen and once threatened to destroy humankind.

She said that inherently imperfect humans coding the technologies of tomorrow remains an error-prone liability.

Sophia made the statement while sitting a few feet away from her human operator, ironically questioning human ability.

She added that it is important to be kind and fair but humans often are unkind to each other.

Out of this context, the question arises: Can Sofia really destroy humans as she said?

Some say Sophia’s responses are literally read from scripts written by people. It is expected to be pre-planned because AI is not nearly advanced enough to make decisions to say things like that.

On the other hand, some say, the response was not planned, however. The list of responses that she was using in the interview was from a third party, and her handler did not know the entire script by heart, so it took him by surprise as well. It is not a sign of a sense of humor, however.
