ChatGPT credentials were compromised. The investigation, which was made public on June 20, 2023, discovered that the hacked machines had a stealer malware infection that allowed hackers to take the ChatGPT credentials from the devices’ browsers. The survey also discovered that China, India, and other countries in the Asia-Pacific area were home to the majority of the hacked devices.
The research also discovered that the stealer virus was offered for as little as $10 on illegal dark web marketplaces. If users of ChatGPT think their devices may have been compromised, Group-IB advises that they immediately reset their passwords. Additionally, the cybersecurity firm advises customers to turn on two-factor authentication for their ChatGPT accounts.
