The humanoid race has taken a new spin with India catching up with its global peers. Reliance Group-backed Addverb Technologies Ltd., a global robotics company based in India, plans to introduce its first humanoid robots in 2025.
Reliance Industries has a 56% stake in Addverb, which manufactures industrial and warehouse robots. The company counts 300 customers, including Maersk. In a recent interview, Sangeet Kumar, Addverb’s co-founder and CEO, said that initially, they will unveil 100 robots in 2025, and their uses will range across various industries, such as energy, retail, and more.
“So humanoid robots for us will be a form factor which is right now being built in the US or in China or in Europe. It will be similar in terms of speed, height, and dexterity, but we are not stopping ourselves to only humanoids, he said.
Addverb also has ambitious goals of commercialising military-grade robots and even sending humanoids to Mars. The price, however, is not yet decided and will be based on industries.

Reliance Enters Humanoids
With a majority stake in the company, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries is providing support and backing the company to steer its robotics goals. “Reliance is our largest consumer of robots and we are leveraging skills which are there or technologies which already exist in Jio,” said Kumar.
“The company will leverage existing technologies such as perception and stack that is built for other applications such as 5G,” said Kumar. These trends are being leveraged internally within the organisations, combining them to build humanoids for use in industries where they are already present.
With the humanoid race gaining traction in the US and China, India’s entry into this space will probably be a game-changer. With Figure, Tesla, Agility Robotics, and Unitree, being a few names making waves in the humanoid sector, it is possible that Addverb will probably push more companies to emerge in this sector from India. Like Figure CEO, Brett Adcock, earlier mentioned, it is also possible that everyone will own a robot like a car or a phone today.
