IIT Kharagpur, Singapore’s IME Signal MoU for Semiconductor Analysis

The Indian Institute of Know-how, Kharagpur and Singapore’s Institute of Microelectronics (IME), below the Company for Science, Know-how and Analysis (A*STAR), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on semiconductor analysis and expertise growth. The settlement was formalised throughout SEMICON Southeast Asia 2025.

This partnership aligns with India’s broader goals below the India Semiconductor Mission, which goals to strengthen India’s place within the world semiconductor panorama by way of worldwide cooperation and innovation.

The MoU establishes a framework for joint analysis in areas together with post-Complementary Metallic-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) applied sciences, superior transistor designs, heterogeneous integration, chip packaging, AI-driven {hardware} accelerators, quantum units, photonic methods, thermal administration, and reliability diagnostics.

Anandaroop Bhattacharya, professor at IIT Kharagpur’s Division of Mechanical Engineering, acknowledged, “This marks a major step in IIT Kharagpur’s world ambition to drive semiconductor analysis and aligns effectively with India’s present thrust on semiconductors by way of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM).”

It additionally encompasses bilateral alternate programmes, specialised coaching, and joint workshops aimed toward equipping researchers, engineers, and college students with abilities related to the evolving semiconductor sector.

Yee-Chia Yeo, deputy chief government at A*STAR and a professor at NUS, highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts, noting that Singapore’s developments within the semiconductor area are rooted in partnerships throughout analysis, trade, and authorities.

This partnership additionally displays India and Singapore’s shared imaginative and prescient of constructing a resilient, revolutionary, and expert semiconductor ecosystem by way of worldwide cooperation.
