A transformative surge of women-led AI startups is marking a significant shift in India’s traditionally male-dominated tech landscape. As of October 2025, over 7,000 women-led startups operate across the country, accounting for approximately 7.5% of all active startups, Tracxn data shows. These ventures have collectively raised $26.4 billion in funding, with 2021 being the peak year, drawing $6.3 billion.

Despite this progress, women still occupy only 22% of AI roles in India, highlighting a persistent gender gap in the field. Listed below are some of the leading women-led AI ventures in India.

1. Dr Geetha Manjunath, Founder of NIRAMAI Health Analytix

Founded in 2016, Bengaluru-based NIRAMAI is a trailblazer in women’s health tech. Backed by a $6–7 million Series A round led by Dream Incubator, pi Ventures, and Binny Bansal, the startup combines AI with thermal imaging to provide non-invasive, radiation-free breast cancer screening. Dr Manjunath’s vision blends deep analytics with practical healthcare solutions, making early cancer detection accessible for women across India. NIRAMAI’s Thermalytix technology can analyse thousands of thermal images quickly and securely, offering a scalable solution for hospitals, clinics, and mobile health camps, particularly benefiting women in underserved areas where access to mammography is limited.

2. Ashwini Asokan, Founder of Mad Street Den

Founded around 2014, Chennai- and US-based Mad Street Den has raised $30 million in Series C funding led by Avatar Growth Capital, Sequoia, and Alpha Wave Global. Its flagship platform, Vue.ai, uses computer vision and AI to power cataloguing, visual search, and personalisation for global retailers. Under Ashwini Asokan’s leadership, the company is expanding beyond fashion into sectors like finance and insurance, showing how Indian AI startups are scaling internationally. Vue.ai also helps brands reduce operational overhead, optimise inventory, and enhance customer engagement by leveraging advanced AI models

3. Chandralika Hazarika, Founder of BigThinx

Since its incorporation in 2015, BigThinx has raised around $222k across early funding rounds. Bengaluru-based, it combines AI and 3D visualisation to create lifelike avatars for virtual try-ons, helping fashion retailers reduce returns and enhance customer experience. Co-founder Chandralika Hazarika leads the company’s global strategy, blending technology, fashion, and sustainability into one seamless solution. By digitising the fitting process, BigThinx not only increases e-commerce conversion rates but also minimises textile waste, aligning AI innovation with environmental consciousness and the demands of modern fashion consumers.

4. Pranjali Awasthi, Founder of Delv.AI

Teenage entrepreneur Pranjali Awasthi launched Delv.AI, a platform that uses AI to automate enterprise data research and insight, in January 2022. The startup has attracted attention for simplifying data discovery and helping organisations navigate information overload with intelligence and speed. Its AI algorithms can extract meaningful insights from unstructured datasets, enabling companies to make faster and more informed business decisions. Delv.AI is reported to have raised $450,000 in funding, valuing the company at approximately $12 million.

5. Krishna Priya Akella, Founder of Starbuzz.ai

Starbuzz.ai applies AI to the influencer economy, helping brands connect with the right creators through engagement, sentiment, and performance analytics. Co-founded by Krishna Priya Akella and Aravindha Bollineni, the platform automates campaigns and enables measurable outcomes, showing how AI is shaping India’s creator economy even with limited public funding visibility. Its AI-driven insights help marketers optimise influencer selection, predict campaign ROI, and manage brand reputation in real-time, creating a scientific, data-backed approach to influencer marketing.

6. Nidhi, Founder of NEMA AI

NEMA AI is a Bangalore-based startup that develops AI tools to detect neurodivergent learning patterns and assist educators in providing personalised interventions. Founded by Nidhi, who goes by her first name, it represents an inspiring example of inclusive AI innovation, applying cutting-edge technology to support learners with diverse educational needs. NEMA AI’s algorithms analyse behavioural and learning data to help teachers design customised lesson plans, making education more inclusive and allowing neurodiverse students to thrive alongside their peers in mainstream classrooms.

7. Ritwika Chowdhury, Founder of Unscript.AI

Unscript.AI, co-founded in December 2021 by Ritwika Chowdhury and Apurv Jain, is an AI-driven platform that transforms text into studio-quality videos using lifelike avatars, multilingual dubbing, and personalised scripting. The company has raised a total of $2.23 million across multiple funding rounds, with the latest being a $1.2 million seed round led by Exfinity Venture Partners in September 2022. Unscript.AI serves clients like HealthifyMe and RadioCity, enabling them to produce personalised video content at scale without traditional agency bottlenecks.

8. Laina Emmanuel and Rimjhim Agrawal, Co-Founders of BrainSight.AI

Co-founded by Laina Emmanuel and Rimjhim Agrawal in 2019, it is a Bengaluru-based startup focused on providing actionable insights into brain function through AI and neuroimaging. Their software product, which has received ‘software-as-a-medical-device’ certification from India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, aims to assist healthcare professionals in diagnosing and treating neuro-psychiatric conditions. In January 2025, BrainSight.AI raised $5 million in a pre-Series A funding round led by IAN Alpha Fund, with participation from IvyCap Ventures and Silver Needle Ventures.
