Redis, Microsoft Launch ‘Azure Managed Redis’ to Power Cloud-Native & GenAI Apps

Redis and Microsoft recently launched Azure Managed Redis (AMR), a fully managed Redis offering for Microsoft Azure, at the Microsoft Ignite event in Chicago. AMR is now in public preview on Azure and offers 99.999% availability, ultra-fast global performance and sub-millisecond latency.

“Azure Managed Redis opens a new chapter of our collaboration with Microsoft — it’s the highest-performing, feature-rich caching platform available for Azure developers,” said Redis CEO Rowan Trollope highlighting how developers can leverage the service to enhance performance, simplify processes, and optimise costs.

New Features

AMR features eight new data structures, such as JSON, vector, and time series, backed by the fastest Redis Query Engine yet. Advanced features such as vector search, full-text indexing, geospatial queries, and numeric data handling make it highly versatile.

With 99.999% availability supported by CRDT, AMR ensures ultra-fast, sub-millisecond performance for global apps while meeting regulatory compliance standards like FedRamp, HIPAA, and ISO 27001. Developers can integrate easily with Azure AI and Redis’ vector database tools, build real-time RAG and GenAI applications, and use client libraries for .NET, Python, Java, Go, and Node.

Additionally, Redis Insight GUI and the Redis copilot AI assistant simplify the development process, helping teams innovate and scale faster.

Empowering Developers

Azure Managed Redis is tailored to meet the needs of developers working on a wide range of workloads, from transaction-heavy processes to memory-intensive applications. It accommodates developers of all skill levels, from those just starting with Redis to seasoned experts managing hundreds of instances. With its flexibility and scalability, the platform empowers developers to build faster, more efficient cloud-native and GenAI applications, making it a versatile solution for modern development needs.
