Former IBM Employee Turns 2015 Resignation Poem into Song Using AI

In 2015, an IBM employee Neeraj Sharma handed in his resignation in a unique format—a poem titled “Kehna Bas Itna Hai Ki,” adorned with Madhubani-style artwork. The poem, given to Shailesh Agarwal, a well-regarded leader at IBM, was a light-hearted gesture that led to much joking and camaraderie.

Recently, this former IBM employee Sharma, who is now the managing director at Accenture, used Suno.ai to transform his poetic resignation into a song, claiming it to be his best AI-generated song to date. He praised Suno.ai’s capabilities, particularly in handling non-English lyrics and non-Western music, and highlighted how the tool captures the sentiment and pronunciation of complex words accurately.

Check out the song here.

Suno AI, which allows one to create songs based on simple text prompts explaining the theme or lyrics, has been widely experimented, generating impressive results.

For example, the AI tool expertly handled the pronunciation of “Phurrr” and “Kshitij,” a name often mispronounced even by those who bear it. The former IBM employee shared his experience and encouraged others to listen to the song to appreciate the nuances captured by the AI.

“It has been playing on a loop on my laptop for a few days now,” said Sharma.

Few weeks back, a Punjabi-themed Bollywood-inspired song was shared on X, overlaid onto the video of ‘Kala Chashma’. It might not sound fancy, nor did it gel too well with the video, however, the almost 2-minute song was completely AI-generated using the AI-music generation application Suno AI.

Not just Suno AI, the latest Stable Audio 2.0, by Stability AI also creates high-quality full tracks.
