Elon Musk’s xAI to Release Grok 2 Next Month, Grok 3 in December

Elon Musk xAI Grok

In a recent interview with Jordan Peterson, renowned psychologist, author, and online educator, Elon Musk confirmed that the latest version of xAI’s AI model named ‘Grok 2’ will be released next month. He also said that Grok 3 will be released towards the end of the year, which he considers will be the most powerful AI.

Grok 2 has been trained on roughly 15000 GPUs and they have H100. “Grok 2 should be on par or close to GPT-4,” said Musk.

Additionally, Musk confirmed that the company is also training Grok 3 in Memphis data Centre and that is expected to be completed in about three or four months, followed by fine-tuning and big fixing. “We’re hoping to release Grok 3 by December and Grok 3 should be the most powerful AI.”

Training Grok

Talking about Grok, its differences and training material, Peterson called out his observation. “I’ve used Grok a lot and it’s not as woke as ChatGPT but it’s still woke, it still deviates,” he said.

However, Musk responded with the model having a lot of catching up to do. “I do want to emphasise that X is a fairly new company. It is just a little over a year old, so we have a lot of catching up to do to companies that have been around for five or 10 or 20 years,” he said.

While asked about the vast amount of data collected by Tesla over the years, for training Grok, Musk said, “We haven’t yet applied real world video from Tesla to Grok.”

Last month, the CEO and chairman of Dell Technologies, Michael Dell announced on X that the company is building Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA GPUs for powering Grok.
