Agora, a company that powers real-time voice, video, and AI-driven engagement, has partnered with Exotel, a cloud-based customer engagement platform, to integrate its conversational AI Engine with Exotel’s AgentStream platform. This enables enterprises to deploy plug-and-play AI voice bots across Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), WhatsApp, in-app, and WebRTC channels.
The collaboration combines Agora’s real-time conversational AI capabilities with Exotel’s programmable voice streaming infrastructure, aiming to deliver human-like, low-latency voice interactions at scale. The companies plan to power 50–100 million AI-led voice interactions annually across India and the Middle East, automating up to 40% of routine queries and cutting operational costs by as much as 30%.
Tony Zhao, CEO and co-founder of Agora, said the partnership addresses the growing demand for scalable AI solutions that can simulate real human interactions.
“Our partnership with Exotel combines the strengths of Agora’s Conversational AI Engine with Exotel’s robust programmable voice infrastructure, making it easier for enterprises to deploy AI agents that enhance customer engagement and operational efficiency,” Zhao said in a statement.
Sachin Bhatia, co-founder and COO of Exotel highlighted how the integration simplifies the AI deployment stack. “Exotel’s programmable streaming infrastructure allows technology providers like Agora to focus on intelligence and experience, while we power the connectivity behind it,” he said.
Exotel’s AgentStream platform enables AI bots to communicate seamlessly across both traditional and IP-based channels. As per the official claims, the company currently supports over 25 billion annual conversations for more than 7,000 enterprises worldwide, spanning sectors like BFSI, logistics, healthcare, and e-commerce.
By leveraging Exotel’s infrastructure and Agora’s AI capabilities, enterprises in high-growth markets like India and the Middle East are expected to accelerate voice automation adoption. The partnership aims to bring enterprises closer to fully intelligent, context-aware conversational systems that combine real-time responsiveness with human-like nuance.
Both companies said the initiative reflects a shift toward enterprise-ready voice AI that improves customer satisfaction while reducing operational complexity and costs.
