IG Drones Signs MoU with UP Government for Defence Corridor Facility

Gurugram-based drone technology company IG Drones has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Uttar Pradesh government to establish an advanced drone manufacturing and research facility in the UP Defence Corridor.

The facility will focus on producing indigenous drones for India’s defence forces. The state government will provide approvals, permissions, and access to both state and central incentives. This move aims to position Uttar Pradesh as a hub amongst other states for aerospace and defence innovation.

Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya, founder and CEO of IG Drones, said, “This MoU is not just an agreement; it is a commitment to India’s self-reliance in defence technology. Our new facility will serve as a hub of innovation, manufacturing, and employment.”

He added that the FPV Striker Drone, built in India and tested at the Indo-China border, was proof that the country no longer needed to rely on external powers for critical technologies.

Sanghapriya had previously told AIM, “Our drones are proudly ‘Made in India’ and contain no Chinese components. With over 75% indigenous capability, we are redefining sovereign tech at the border.”

For National Security

Major General Ramesh C. Padhi, senior vice president of R&D at IG Drones, said, “The demand for indigenous FPV drones is surging globally, and India must seize this moment. Our upcoming facility will play a pivotal role in ensuring that production is scaled up to meet national security requirements.”

The company plans to mass-produce 100,000 units of its FPV Striker Drone annually. Designed and tested in India, the drone is built for rapid deployment and precision targeting. With the global drone market projected to exceed $55 billion by 2030, IG Drones is looking to expand both domestically and internationally.

The signing of the MoU marks a step towards technological sovereignty, with IG Drones aiming to strengthen India’s defence capability through indigenous innovation.

The company’s subsidiary IG Defence has also previously signed a contract with the Indian Air Force (IAF) to implement a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) tool tracking system.

This system aimed to enhance airbase safety and efficiency by streamlining tool management and inventory tracking.
