Biotechnology giant Amgen has named Naveen Gullapalli as Managing Director of Amgen India, underscoring its commitment to advancing technology and innovation from its Hyderabad site.
Gullapalli will oversee the Amgen India Technology and Innovation hub, leveraging his extensive expertise in global operations across pharmaceuticals, finance, and technology. He joins Amgen from Novartis, where he played a pivotal role in establishing and expanding their Global Centre in Hyderabad and five other global centres, driving innovation and strategic growth.
Som Chattopadhyay, National Executive for India at Amgen, said, “Amgen India is key to furthering our global vision of unlocking the convergence of biotech and tech to accelerate innovation and help meet the needs of a globally aging population. Naveen’s wealth of experience and strategic leadership will drive the success of this new site.”
Amgen’s Hyderabad facility, announced in August 2024, is a key part of its global strategy to drive digital transformation and innovation. The centre focuses on scaling advanced technologies and enhancing capabilities in AI, data science, and life sciences, aiming to streamline operations and support the company’s mission of serving more patients globally.
Located in HITEC City, Hyderabad, the facility will span six floors of the RMZ Spire Tower 110, accommodating up to 3,000 employees. Hyderabad was selected for its strong talent pool in medicine, life sciences, data sciences, and AI.
Amgen, with nearly 27,000 employees, has a global presence in approximately 100 countries and regions, including India.
With more than 40 years in the industry, Amgen continues to advance a broad pipeline of treatments for cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis, inflammatory diseases, and rare conditions.
